A very pink affair @The Westin, Kuala Lumpur

For me, October’15 started off with a (figurative) bang, brought about by my participation in the Pink Project!

Cutesy as it sounds, the Pink Project is not so much a painting endeavour, but rather, a collaborative effort between Malaysia’s top fashion designers working with Harper’s BAZAAR to create pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness and also to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Welfare Assocation! (lets call it BCWA for brevity).

I had the exclusive opportunity to work alongside Sonny San for Eclipse, Khoon Hooi, Izrin Ismail for Innai, Sereni and Shentel to come up with the variants of the iconic pink ribbon, with the liberty of adding our own personal touches! The launch event was a classy do at the Westin Hotel, on the very first day of the month. The theme was (without any shred of doubt) pink, in all it’s gloriously demure shades, and almost all the ladies that graced the event wore some variant of that lovely colour.

At the helm, for the day, was the ever-amazing Bernie Chan, serving as the Master of Ceremonies. BAZAAR’s Pink Project which started 9 years ago has always been graced by strong-willed and remarkably talented women, with celebrities like Jojo Struys, Asha Gill, Elaine Daley, Stephanie Chai and many more lending their support to this initiative.

As such, its not surprising that a whole bunch of them turned up for the event as well! We also had the likes of Debbie Goh, Nadia Heng and Christina Stockstill making an appearance to further add star power to the whole affair.

Its still the month of October, so you can still do your part to help raise breast cancer awareness! Just post a picture of yourself on Instagram, wearing pink and with the pledge to do something in your community to raise breast cancer awareness. Use the hashtags #BAZAARPinkProject and #PledgeInPink, and tag three of your friends to make their own Pledge in Pink!

My limited edition designer ribbon will be distributed with the BAZAAR Pink Project x Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) Mobile Unit, and throughout the month of October 2015, they will be at KLCC, MidValley Mega Mall, Uptown 7, The Mandarin Oriental and Pavilion KL. Its also available as a special set with the October issue for RM10 at Kinokuniya@Suria KLCC from Oct 2. and proceeds to go to BCWA Malaysia, so go and grab a copy now!

Until the next time,
Celest Thoi
